I’ve taught self-defense seminars to the public for many years. Mostly women, children, and senior citizens.
The number one rule I always emphasize is to “BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS.”
Have your head on a pedestal and focus on your surroundings. This is the same thing I have instructed police officers and it is the number one rule in self-defense. Studies have shown that a potential attack can be avoided simply by making eye contact, especially in a highly visible area and always have a defense plan in place, and routinely practice it.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: PLEASE BE SURE TO ALWAYS CALL 9-1-1 IF YOU SEE ANYTHING EVEN REMOTELY SUSPICIOUS AND RELAY TO THE DISPATCHER VIVID DETAILS OF WHAT YOU SEE AND HEAR!!! BE SAFE OUT THERE!!!
